How to delete your hankerchf account

You can delete your account and all associated personal data at any time. There are two ways to do it.

Option A — Delete from inside the app (fastest)

1. Open hankerchf.
2. Tap Settings in the bottom tab bar.
3. Scroll to the bottom, to Account.
4. Tap Delete account.
5. Read the confirmation, then type DELETE to confirm. This step prevents accidental deletion.
6. Tap Delete permanently.

You are signed out immediately and your data is removed straight away — not on a delay. This cannot be undone.

If you have a paid subscription: deleting your account cancels a Google Play subscription automatically. It does not cancel an App Store subscription — Apple does not allow us to do that on your behalf. Cancel it in Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions before deleting, or you will keep being charged for an account that no longer exists.

Option B — Email request (if you no longer have access to the app)

Send an email to legal@hankerchf.com from the email address associated with your account, with the subject line "Delete my account". We will confirm the request and complete the deletion within seven days. If you cannot access the original email address, include enough information for us to verify the account belongs to you (display name, approximate registration date, last sign-in date if known).

What gets deleted

• Your account record, email address, and password hash.
• Your profile (display name, date of birth, bio, height, weight, body type, ethnicity, relationship status, pronouns, gender identity, sexual orientation, position, looking-for, tribes, flags, HIV status, last-tested date, vaccinations).
• Your photos (front-pocket and back-pocket).
• Your location row.
• Your conversations and messages — your view of them, and the metadata that links them to you on the other participant's view.
• Your push-notification device tokens.
• Your blocks list, your stored notes about other users, and your per-conversation back-pocket grants.
• Any consents you have granted.

What is retained, and why

A small amount of data is retained even after deletion, where the law either requires or permits us to do so:

• Audit-trail entries recording the fact that consents were granted or revoked, and that a deletion request was honoured. These are kept for six years to satisfy applicable business-records and consumer-protection compliance obligations (including CCPA/CPRA record-keeping requirements under Cal. Code Regs. tit. 11 § 7101). They contain account IDs and timestamps only — no profile content, no message content, no photos.
• Messages that other users received from you remain on those users' devices. We cannot remotely delete messages from another user's device.
• Messages and account data preserved under a law-enforcement hold or for the investigation of a serious safety incident (e.g. CSAM, threats of violence) are retained as long as the hold or investigation requires. This is rare.
• Aggregated, de-identified analytics that cannot be re-associated with you may survive in our operational dashboards.

How long it takes

If you delete from inside the app (Option A), your data is removed immediately, as part of that same request — there is no waiting period. If you request deletion by email (Option B), we still need to verify the request first, so that path takes longer; see Option B above. Backups taken before the deletion may contain your data for up to thirty additional days; we do not restore deleted records from those backups for any purpose other than disaster recovery, and those backups are themselves automatically pruned.

Reactivation

Once deletion is complete, your account cannot be recovered. If you wish to use hankerchf again in the future, you will need to create a new account.

We respond within forty-five days as required by California Civil Code § 1798.130. You may also lodge a complaint with the California Privacy Protection Agency (cppa.ca.gov) or your state's Attorney General.
